Look After Your Drivers

I’m gonna talk about some of my favorite tools and apps to make sure my drivers are comfortable in the trucks. Y’all wanna support your entire fleet and that includes people. When your drivers are happy, you remain profitable with higher retention rates and consistent service delivery. It’s so important to do what you can for the most job satisfaction you can provide.

I’ll start with an inverter. It’s a quiet and environmentally friendly alternative to idling the engine to supply power to the cab. It becomes a real convenience for truckers while they’re on the road. Remember, they’re on the road away from their families and it gets lonely. So, when they can plug in the TV, a microwave, a refrigerator, phone chargers and other things, life on the road is going to be much greater.

Another thing that y’all need which saved me thousands and thousands is an OTR reset tool. No question about it. This connects to the computer of the truck and clears all active and inactive fault codes. Another thing I love is how it actually does a forced regen and can literally get you from off road, to the next service shop or back home to your preferred mechanic. It’s going to prevent you from having to call out roadside assist in so many instances. An OTR reset tool is a 500 to $700 investment, but it will save you so much in the long run.

An app that all your drivers should download is Trucksmart. This allows them to find a parking spot at night. Did you know right now, there is a tremendous shortage of truck parking spaces nationwide? It’s one of the biggest headaches and inconveniences that drivers face while they own the road. Trucksmart allows them to reserve a spot before they get to the stops and saves a lot of stress and headaches.

“Make sure y’all got Wi-Fi for your drivers. It’s so convenient and my drivers are telling me all the time how much they appreciate it.”

And last but not least, make sure y’all got Wi-Fi for your drivers. It’s so convenient and my drivers are telling me all the time how much they appreciate it. You can either throw a hotspot in or do what I do with an ELOG system Samsara, which has built in Wi-Fi. Your trucks are travelling through rural and wooded areas and will always need an open line of communication. Wi-Fi means they always have reception and again, it’s a huge convenience.

Make sure y’all have these four things so your team is safe and happy on the road. You’ll saving yourself and your drivers a lot of headaches otherwise.
